How Do I Prepare for Lip Tattoo Treatment?
In order to prepare for your treatment, avoid taking the following medications, substances, and vitamins, which cause your blood to thin:
-
Aspirin
-
Ibuprofen
-
Alcoholic beverages
-
Caffeine (coffee and tea)
-
Fish oil
-
Niacin
Also, avoid exfoliating skincare products and any medications that thin out the skin.
It is vital to take anti-viral medication before your procedure if you’re prone to cold sores (they can appear due to the trauma of tattooing and affect the healing process).
If you have any conditions or diseases, consult with your doctor and check to see if you are a candidate for the PMU lip treatment. Do not use Botox or fillers at least six (6) weeks before the treatment. It is also recommended to exfoliate and moisturize the lips before treatment.

Do not take any blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, B6, Omega 3, Gingko Biloba, or Evening Primrose at least one (1) week before your procedure.

-
Avoid any anti-aging treatments such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, lasers, or facials at least two (2) weeks before your appointment.

What Should I Know About Lip Tattoo Aftercare?
After the treatment, your lips will need some special attention in order to heal properly. They will go through several stages including swelling and peeling. You can expect for color to fade into a shade up to 50% lighter than the initial color. The results depend on how saturated in pigment the lips are. Regardless, you will need to follow the aftercare routine prescribed for about ten (10) days. Please avoid the following for (10) days after the procedure:
-
Extreme exercise such as swimming in pools or the ocean, saunas and steam baths – anything that causes excessive sweating and soaking around the treated area
-
Tanning in the sun or a sunbed
-
Makeup on the treatment area
-
Touching the area
-
Spicy food (applicable to lip treatment)
You must not wear lip makeup until the scabbing or peeling stage is over or you may be at risk for an infection. Once all the scabs fall off, you can wear lipstick if you choose to.
What Should I Know About Powder Brows Aftercare?
You may experience swelling and soreness after the procedure, which is completely normal (this will subside within a few days).
For optimal results, make sure to understand the aftercare process:
-
I will provide you with healing ointment to use on the treatment area. Make sure to apply the ointment three (3) times a day and always use clean/disinfected hands or a cotton swab, especially during the first three (3) days after the procedure.
-
Never touch the treated area with your fingers unless they are clean and sterilized. The same applies for Q-tips, cotton swabs and/or any surface that comes into contact with your brows. Always sleep on a clean pillowcase, ideally a silk one.
-
Do not scratch, rub, pick or peel the healing skin. Allow it to flake off on its own in order to not damage your skin or your results.
-
As far as cleaning is concerned, always gently cleanse the treated area with mild antibacterial soap – never scrub as it will affect your final results. Rinse with lukewarm water and gently pat the area until dry.
-
Always apply a light coat of healing ointment on the area after a shower and continue with this regimen until the area is completely healed.
-
Avoid makeup, facials, sweating, sun exposure, saunas, jacuzzies, or swimming until the area is completely healed.
-
Avoid wetting your eyebrows.
-
Do not use anti-aging products, especially those that contain lactic acids, glycolic acids, and retinol, as they will fade your eyebrow area.
-
In order to prevent pigment color fading, use sunblock after the treatment area is healed.
-
Once the peeling phase ends, you may proceed with your regular activities.
-
The look of your brows will change throughout the healing period. Therefore, some of the healing stages may not look their best. Hang in there as this is a work in progress!
